Wild Goresbridge
Flora and Fauna On The Barrow Line And Cois Bearbha Park
The beautiful riverside walks along the Barrow Line and the Cois Bearbha Park area of Goresbridge are a must for any visitor to this unspoiled part of Ireland.
In and on our river, right on our doorstep, live a variety of Wildlife and NatureIf you are lucky you might get to see one of our busy Otters going about his day
Traditionally in Ireland Spring started on the 1st of February which is St Brigid's Day. May 1st was seen as the start of Summer, although it came with warning......
"Don't cast a cloth till May is out!" It is a warning not to shed too many winter layers of clothing till the month of May is over. As everybody knows in Ireland, it can be very summery one day and pretty cold the next! The May flowers though beautiful, were never brought inside the house. The were put on the window sills and over the doors of houses and even of cow sheds to keep away bad luck and for stopping the Fairies from coming into your home and causing mischief!! There are wonderful examples of the May Bush or Hawthorn Tree as they are also called in the Cois Bearbha Park. |
